Writing
"You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children." Madeleine L'EngleThe books that are wanting me to write them at this moment are varied. Two novels, one set in an alternate universe, one set right here and now, occupy my larger chunks of time. Two picture-books that each deal in very different ways with a child stepping into a new place of independence are in revision. And there is the wildly odd book that uses poetry to look at the cultural history of America through the eyes of immigrants- from 10,000 years ago to today.
